What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small, screw-shaped posts that are typically crafted from titanium due to its ability to naturally fuse with bone. When the implants are placed beneath the gumline, they will fuse with the bone and act as replacements for the missing root structure of your tooth. This allows them to provide much-needed stimulation and blood flow to the jawbone to keep it from deteriorating over time. A restoration can then be attached to the implants, allowing our team to replace the entire structure of any number of missing teeth.
The 4-Step Dental Implant Process

- All of our dental implant cases begin with a consultation with Dr. Chawala. During your visit, our team will capture a cone beam CT scan of your facial structure and go over your medical and oral health history. We’ll discuss all of your treatment options with you and determine whether dental implants are a good fit for your needs.
- Dr. Chawala is specially trained to surgically place dental implants, allowing you to see the same expert throughout your entire treatment process.
- After your surgery, you’ll undergo a healing process where your dental implants will fuse with your jawbone. Once your gums have healed and osseointegration has occurred, we’ll attach small metal connector pieces, called abutments, to your dental implants.
- The last step of your treatment will be attaching your restoration, which can include a crown, bridge, and/or denture. After this, your smile will be complete!
